Fun Facts
• The Nakayama Kimpai, formerly named Nikkan Sports Sho Kim Pai, was Sakura Laurel's first graded win.
• Agnes Tachyon dominated the 2001 Satsuki Sho on this layout.
• After closing due to World War II and several relocations, the first crown settled at Nakayama and was renamed the Satsuki Sho.
• Five of Tokino Minoru's ten wins were here at Nakayama Racecourse, with the Satsuki Sho being one of them. He would secure another victory at the Japanese Derby, tragically passing 17 days afterward and ending a perfect record of 10 races and 10 wins. His achievements came long before the grading system was implemented.
