About Uma-Oshi
What is Oshi Cup?
While uma-oshi supports multiple formats (Draft 5v5, 3v3v3 teams, CM-style, and fully custom events), Oshi Cup is the original game mode this site was built around.
It is a fully inclusive, free-for-all format where any number of players can participate, and everyone brings their favorite uma without worrying about team composition, overflow, or meta pressure.
So far, it has been incredibly fun and successful for those of us who have played it, so here are the rules for anyone who wants to run their own Oshi Cup:
Oshi Cup Ruleset
- Each trainer registers 1 uma only
- No teams — fully free-for-all
- All players participate (no overflow issues)
- Single race, or tournament format if multiple heats are needed
- You may run as many careers as you want until your first entry
- Your first registered uma is locked for the entire event
- No swaps once the event begins
- Events align with real-world races (JRA schedule)
- Heats are randomized after registration closes
- This is meant to be a fun, casual oshi celebration — run whoever you want
Heat Structure
For tracks with 16 max field:
- Up to 16 → Single Final
- 17–32 → 2 Heats → Top 5 each → Final
- 33–48 → 3 Heats → Top 5 each → Final
- 49–64 → 4 Heats → Top 4 each → Final
- 65+ → 6 Heats → Top 4 → Semis → Top 5 → Final
For tracks with 18 max field:
- Up to 18 → Single Final
- 19–36 → 2 Heats → Top 6 each → Final
- 37–54 → 3 Heats → Top 6 each → Final
- 55–72 → 4 Heats → Top 4 each → Final
- 73-90 → 5 Heats → Top 6 → Semis → Top 6 → Final
- 91+ → 6 Heats → Top 6 → Semis → Top 6 → Final
Points are awarded based on placement (last place receives no points).
Some groups also run a year-end Arima Kinen-style event, where top performers qualify and others are voted in — just like the real thing.
About the Site
Oshi Cup started as a random idea while watching the YouTuber rae (go check her out!) introduce 5v5 draft-style events to her community.
It was refreshing to see people organizing PvP outside of the built-in systems of Umamusume. Champions Meeting is fun, but it can get very competitive, and draft formats depend heavily on bans and selections.
That led to two thoughts:
- The game itself is built around one uma competing against many — yet PvP formats are mostly small and team-based.
- Players rarely get to simply run their favorite uma without worrying about meta or optimization.
So the idea formed: what if there was a format where everyone could participate, and it felt closer to real horse racing — one uma among many, all competing together?
With help from others who were interested, Oshi Cup became a real thing.
This site originally started as a small project for our own server, but it quickly grew into something bigger:
- Why not let others host their own events?
- Why not track stats, placements, and leaderboards?
- Why not support multiple formats?
And now, here we are.
The site is completely free to use. The goal is simple: give players and organizers a place to run events, track results, and enjoy the game in their own way.
There is also a Discord server dedicated to helping people find and organize groups, so feel free to join and connect with others.
Most importantly: Umamusume is a game — let’s enjoy it.
