Fun Facts

• Kyoto Nisai Stakes was first run in 1959 and was promoted to Grade 3 status in 2014. It was run over a variety of distances but has been contested over 2000m since 2002.
• Established in 1996, the Shuka Sho replaced the Queen Elizabeth II Cup as the final leg of the Japanese Triple Tiara.
• Since 1996, six racehorses have completed the Triple Tiara with the Shuka Sho as its third leg: Still in Love, Apapane, Gentildonna, Almond Eye, Daring Tact, and Liberty Island.
• The tight inner layout heavily rewards runners that protect the rail.
