Course Summary

Left-handed medium-distance course with a tricky pocket start and only about 150m before a sharp bend. Early positioning is dangerous, but Tokyo’s 525.9m final straight gives late runners a huge runway if they survive the Shiroi slope.

• Hosts Tenno Sho Autumn, one of Japan's major senior medium-distance G1 races.
• Silence Suzuka's 1998 Tenno Sho Autumn is one of the most famous tragic races in Japanese racing history.
• The Emperor of Japan attended Tenno Sho Autumn in 2005, 2012, and 2023. After Eishin Flash's 2012 victory, Italian jockey Mirco Demuro dismounted and bowed deeply to the imperial couple, creating an iconic moment applauded by fans.
• Until 1990, horses that finished within the top five of the Flora Stakes received Yushun Himba entry consideration. From 1991 through 2017, only the top three received preferential entry, and since 2018 only the top two have received preferential entry for the Yushun Himba.
